Our last newsletter put out a call 4 help to the local BIA members and community.  Jim Glennon, president of Florida operations for Modern Service for Home & Business, answered our call to help a local sick man and his family in need.  John suffers with colon cancer and lost his job in the construction industry about a year ago. John has suffered through numerous surgeries and since the air conditioning went out two months ago, he has been plagued with a serious bacterial infection that is now threatening his life as a direct result of the heat.

In less than one week, the Penna family had a working air conditioning complete with new compressor and coil.  Special thanks to Jim and the team at Modern Service for making this happen!

Youth Group from Ohio Paint Homes in Southwest Florida

Three homes in Harlem Heights community get a new coat of paint

Builders Care recently partnered with high school students on a mission trip through the Church of the Messiah UMC from Westerville, Ohio to paint three homes in Southwest Florida.  This group travels twice a year to perform such community service projects throughout the eastern United States.  This summer’s mission trip took them to the Harlem Heights community in South Fort Myers where they partnered with Builders Care, United Way and the Harlem Heights Improvement Association.  By day the eighteen high school students and six adults worked hard painting homes and at night they spent time with host families from the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Fort Myers.

Sherwin Williams Paint Company provided all of the paint to complete the three homes.  The homes were painted in just 4 days.  Additional materials were provided by Scott Paint Corporation.

Recipients included a Lee County School District employee and two other local families in need.

Special thanks to all participants for making this happen!
