Health & Safety Fair October 13, 2010

 

Celebrate Our Troops This Weekend and Help Veterans Who Are Homeless

 

On Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. you are invited to honor our troops by donating white socks, beef jerky, foot lotion and powder, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, chapstick and snacks to be shared with individuals on active duty and with veterans who are without a home and need a hand.

 

Donations may be delivered to the Wellness Center of Cape Coral where the 4^th annual health and safety fair will be presented offering free fingerprinting for the children, a blood drive, health information tables, performances and prizes, live music, safety vehicles, voter registration, chair massage and much more.

 

Canned goods will also be accepted to meet the demands of our local need.

 

Come out and meet members of the Cape Coral Police Department, the Lee County Sheriffs Department, Heart and Soul Massage Therapy staff and the employees and volunteers of The Wellness Center.

Description:  This free public event is to celebrate Heroes overseas & at home.  It will feature health and safety related (indoor) informational tables and displays, wellness recommendations, live demonstrations, performances, interactive indoor and outdoor activities, prizes, food,

free children’s fingerprinting, blood drive, voter registration, canned food drive in recognition of the 30^th Anniversary of World Food Day, supply collection for our troops and local homeless veterans and families, and much more.  Supplies include: hand sanitizer, wet wipes, chap stick, small tarps & blankets, rain ponchos, toilet paper, paper towels, bug spray, dark or camo baseball caps, sewing kits, shake & light flashlights, blank Christmas cards, beef jerky, camo socks, foot lotion & powder, movie DVD’s,

CANCER AWARENESS HEALTH FAIR September 22, 2009

Cancer Awareness Month LiveStrong Day, Oct. 2, is a national and global initiative from the Lance Armstrong Foundation to raise awareness of cancer-related issues in our communities. Lee Memorial Health System is planning to mark the day with a Cancer Awareness Health Fair to be held at the Lee Center for Rehabilitation & Wellness which will include: Free skin cancer screening Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in adults ages 55 and over. The good news is that when treated early, it is the most curable of all cancers. Lee Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness is offering a free skin cancer screening by Harris Dermatology.

Breast self-exam education Representatives from the Regional Cancer Center will be on hand to provide education about breast self-exams and lump detection; information on breast, prostate and colorectal screenings.

Smoking cessation information and tips. Tours of the Wellness Center and one-week free passes. Nutrition and weight management information from Lee Health Care Solutions. Information on exercise and rehabilitation
