Announces Date for Wishmaker’s Ball  

 

Bonita Springs, FL (February 8, 2011) The  Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida is pleased to announce they will be presenting their Wishmaker’s Ball on March 18, 2011 at the Club at The Strand of Naples.  

The fifth annual ball, which begins at 6:00 p.m., will feature a cocktail hour with silent auction, dinner, a live auction, and an Adopt-A-Wish opportunity. Jimmy Keys, one of Naples’ favorite entertainers, will perform after dinner.  

“We need the help of the community to make the Ball a success. Our mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions and we need local businesses and individuals to get involved in any way they can. Whether becoming a sponsor, donating an auction item or attending the event… we just want the community involved. We have children in Southwest Florida waiting for their wishes to be granted and through our fundraising efforts we hope to make at least 10 of them come true that evening,” said Norm Wedderburn, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida.

First Annual ROUGHNECK Poker Run January 24, 2011

Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida will be the benefactor for the First Annual Roughneck Poker Run. The event will take place on Saturday, January 22 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine.  The event begins at Zookies (7740 Preserve Lane) off of Immokalee Road across from Gulf Coast High School.

This holiday season, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida reflects upon the reason behind the season with their line of greeting cards which features artwork designed by wish kids.There are two traditional styles of cards to choose from, as well as six cards designed and created from the art of Wish kids with drawings of Christmas trees, snowmen, and even a world peace design, among others.

Each contains a message of holiday cheer on the inside, plus there are six different styles of e-Cards also available.

In addition to the greeting cards, giving certificates can serve as gift-giving alternatives for friends and family. Recipients will be notified that a donation was made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in their honor.

The Wish Kid Art Cards are available in packages of 20 cards and envelopes for $20. The holiday cards can be viewed and purchased at

Proceeds from the greeting cards help grant wishes to local children battling life-threatening medical conditions.There are many ways to get involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation – by purchasing holiday cards, giving gift certificates or by giving the ultimate gift by adopting a child’s wish. Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction Will Make Wishes Come True

 

 

 The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida  and P.O.L.O. Club of Lee County are still looking for volunteer committee members to help plan the 6th Annual P.O.L.O. Club Bachelor & Bachelorette Auction that will take place on Thursday, November 11, 2010, in Fort Myers.

The  P.O.L.O. Club needs committee members to organize the auction, logistics, entertainment and food & beverages in order for this fun and exciting event to reach its highest potential. Any volunteer with event-planning skills and contacts would be greatly appreciated, and any volunteer with a flair for fun and a heart for kids is the perfect type of person to help with this event. Volunteers will also receive the privilege of being the first to meet the bachelors and bachelorettes.

BI-LINGUAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION March 18, 2010

Volunteer Information Session at their Bonita Springs office on Monday, April 19

5:45 P.M. and the session will begin at 6:00 P.M.

“Volunteer recruitment is such a vital part of our organization and the Foundation is in dire need of bilingual

(Spanish and or Creole) volunteers,” said Judith Yevick, West Coast Operations Manager. “We need people who are interested in being wish-granters. The second need that we have is for people who will take a leadership role in fundraising and help by chairing a committee, acquiring sponsorships,collecting auction items and other such jobs.”

PEACE, LOVE & BALLROOM –

 Steve Wilke, owner of Fred Astaire Dance Studio, announces Peace, Love & Ballroom, an evening of “Dancing Under the Stars” scheduled for Saturday March 20, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Edison Restaurant.

This special fundraising event and dance performance will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. The evening will pay tribute to the 60’s and 70’s with dance performances that include the foxtrot, rumba, cha-cha, samba, salsa, paso doble, tango and more. The show is choreographed by Warren and Babette Brown, 11 time Scottish Champions and three time World Finalists, and coached by Elena Grinenko, a two time World Champion & star on “Dancing with the Stars” seasons three and four and Doreen Scheinpflug, a two time East German Champion. The staff and students of Fred Astaire are the stars if the show.

Tickets are $40 per person and include a gourmet buffet dinner, cocktail and VIP seating to the Peace, Love & Ballroom, an evening of “Dancing Under The Stars” performance.  Dinner will be served from 5 – 6:30 p.m. with the performance starting at 7:00 p.m. “Hippie-tinis” will be available for just $5, with a $3 donation made to Make-A-Wish Foundation per drink sold. Guests can bring an item to tie dye at our Tie Dye Station.
