Shelter Honors Volunteers by Hosting Apple Pie Day at Options Thrift Shoppe April 12, 2011

 

Join The Shelter for Abused Women & Children for the eighth annual Apple Pie Day, a birthday celebration commemorating the generosity of the late Jack and Lue Harris, at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011, at Options Thrift Shoppe, 968 Second Avenue North, Naples.

 

Apple Pie Day honors Jack and Lue Harris’ countless volunteer efforts with The Shelter, as well as their generous gift that allowed the nonprofit domestic violence center to purchase the Options building.

 

This year’s celebration takes place at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 25th at the resale store and includes remarks by Options Store Manager Lissette Garcia, as well as free apple pie for customers, while supplies last.

 

Options Thrift Shoppe is owned and operated by The Shelter for Abused Women & Children. Proceeds benefit The Shelter’s life-transforming programs and services while offering program participants the ability to shop using free gift vouchers for the items needed to rebuild their lives.

 The Shelter for Abused Women & Children announces the Grand Re-Opening of Options Thrift Shoppe, 968 Second Avenue North in Naples, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011.
The Thursday morning Grand Re-Opening event allows Options to showcase recent renovations while thanking customers for their ongoing support by featuring:
  • Amazing discounts throughout the store
  • Prizes/drawings
  • Special discount incentives for returning customers
  • A selection of exquisite Sarah Danielle dresses
Alterations to the store began last October, due in part to the generosity of Chico’s FAS, Inc., and include moving the Boutique to the front of the store; new dressing rooms; an expanded furniture section; as well as improved storage and sorting areas.
“The store has undergone repainting, received new carpeting and such in the past. However, none of the changes have been this transforming to the look and feel of Options,” explains Store Manager Lissette Garcia. “We’re thrilled our customers and volunteers enjoy the new and improved Options and are grateful to Chico’s for their continued support of The Shelter.”

Furniture ONLY Yard Sale this Saturday! The Shelter’s Another Option Thrift Shoppe is hosting a Furniture Only Yard Sale this Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

Another Option Thrift Shoppe is located at 5248 Golden Gate Parkway in Naples. The store is open Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

SUMMER VOLUNTEERS May 18, 2010

For Immediate Release

Shelter Seeking Summer Volunteers
Naples, FL – 5/17/10- Volunteer with The Shelter for Abused Women & Children this summer and help transform the lives of domestic violence victims! 
 
A wide-range of volunteer opportunities exist in Naples, Immokalee and Bonita Springs, including:
  • Retail support at Options Thrift Shoppe (968 Second Ave. N. in Naples) and Another Option Thrift Shoppe (5248 Golden Gate Parkway in Naples).
  • Administrative support in Naples and Immokalee, assisting with special projects, small tasks and ongoing work including filing, copying, stuffing envelopes, data entry, making banners, office support, research, sorting donations, organizing pantries/closets.
  • Donation pick-up and delivery to Options, The Shelter and the Immokalee Outreach Office (located in Immokalee, FL).
  • Speakers’ Bureau volunteers to assist with community education, training and speaking engagements.
  • Children’s Program* is seeking individuals to assist with child care; “Hands Are for Helping” presentations throughout the school year; Kiddie Care Club.
  • Hola Immokalee! volunteers assist the Immokalee Outreach Office (located in Immokalee, FL) with child care, office duties, etc.
  • Hotline Counselors, answering the confidential 24-hour crisis line (239.775.1101), Court Advocates providing assistance to individuals seeking injunctions for protection, InVEST Advocates working with this program designed to reduce the number of domestic violence homicides in Collier County, residential Shelter and Outreach Advocates assisting with intake, empowerment and counseling*, as well as much more!

* Volunteer opportunities involving direct interaction with program participants require the successful completion of the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Core Competency training. The 24-hour course is offered at The Shelter.

Another Option Celebrates First Anniversary at New Location with Sale

Friday & Saturday, May 14 & 15, 2010

 

Shop Another Option Thrift Shoppe, 5248 Golden Gate Parkway in Naples, this Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and purchase 10 or more items of clothing and the price will be $2.00 each piece regardless of what the tag indicates!

 

As part of the one-year anniversary at the store’s new location on Golden Gate Parkway, other reductions will be available throughout the store. Remember, less than 10 items, prices will be as marked.

 

Another Option Thrift Shoppe5248 Golden Gate Parkway in Naples, is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and features a Children’s Department, furniture, home goods, clothing and accessories.
