Guests will enjoy mint julep-tinis and hors d’oeuvres as they cheer on their favorite horse during the live feed from Churchill Downs and join in the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home.” Chic hats are a must for ladies while menfolk may emulate a Kentucky Colonel. Lovegrove Paints Special Wedding Gift for Royals Matlacha. April 6, 2011. The poem “How Do I Love Thee” by Elizabeth Barrett Browning has been embellished into Leoma Lovegrove’s latest piece of art. Leoma is known internationally for her vibrant heart art with electric colors. Lyrics are usually a part of her canvas but in honor of the upcoming Royal Wedding she chose a poem instead. She is shipping it over to England as a wedding gift for the new Prince William and Princess Kate.  As a special gift to the couple, Kate Middleton’s former piano teacher composed “A Song for Kate (and William)”. Daniel Nicholls, who hails from the Middletons’ hometown of Bucklebury, wrote and recorded the song using the poems “How Do I Love Thee” by Elizabeth Barrett Browning and “O Lyric Love,” by Robert Browning. The song will be performed and filmed on the royal wedding day, by his choir Enharmonic. Lovegrove will complete the 30 x 40 canvas LIVE in Matlacha during the Florida’s Creative Coast Weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 8,9 and 10th) at Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens 4637 Pine Island Road. Leoma will incorporate the words to the Browning poem combined with photos of Prince William and Catherine and also Princess Diana. To add to the fun….Lovegrove will let gallery visitors write a congratulatory messages to the Royal Couple on the back of her canvas.   Lovegrove was a huge fan of the late Princess Diana and has enjoyed watching her children grow up. When she heard of Wills and Kate’s engagement she wanted to celebrate the good news and honor them both with a piece of her art for a wedding gift.  The Gift travels across the pond shortly.  Leoma Lovegrove to paint  portraits of Steven Tyler all weekend, live on her stage in the gallery’s botanical gardens.

Matlacha. March 10, 2011. American Idol fans may never have the opportunity to meet Steven Tyler in the flesh, but they can see him almost come alive under the paint brush of Leoma Lovegrove at special Painting Out Loud performances. Lovegrove will be painting Tyler’s portrait during the Creative Coast weekend at her Matlacha gallery. The performances are free and she will paint live on stage during the two days of the Creative Coast Weekends. March 12 and 13  from 10 am – 6 pm. In addition, Leoma will be at the gallery Friday evening March 11, for a “Meet and Greet” from 4 pm -to 8 pm. Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens is located in the heart of Matlacha, Florida at 4637 Pine Island Road NW. For those using a GPS use Cape Coral as the city. ART TRANSPLANT February 1, 2011

“Art Transplant”  Leoma Lovegrove will paint hearts to raise money for her friend’s organ transplant. For many years, Leoma Lovegrove has painted hearts during the month of February to benefit the American Heart Association and From Our Hearts of Lee County. The heart art is painted on 7″ by 9″ archival boards. This year, her efforts will support an individual for the first time.   “Cindy Scinto wandered into my gallery one day and immediately mesmerized everyone,” Lovegrove related. “She spotted one of my heart paintings and announced she had undergone a heart transplant.”   Scinto’s book,  A Heart Like Mine, relates how that experience transformed her spiritually. As a 40-year old woman living in Spokane, Washington, she had no risks for heart disease..Yet, she suffered a heart attack and endured 32 heart catheterizations, 11 stents, two open-heart surgeries, and a thoracotomy that was part of an experimental program to grow new vessels around her heart. All this occurred in only three years. In May of 2005, she was placed on the heart transplant list after surviving cardiac arrest two times. With 70 people in the Northwest waiting for a heart ahead of her, the transplant surgeon estimated it would be nine months to a year before she was called. She knew she did not have that much time. The very next morning, the surgeon came in with a consent form for a heart transplant. A donor heart had been taken off the transplant list because it needed too much repair to be suitable for a recipient. But the surgeon was willing to repair it and transplant it. The repairs were done and the transplant was successful. Although things went well the first few months, Scinto contracted a cancerous type virus from the transplanted heart and the only viable treatment was chemotherapy. After nine months of chemo twice a day-the virus became dormant. Scinto said, “I am passionate and intent on sharing my story of perseverance and how God has sustained my family and I during many years of turmoil and tragedy. Regardless of what comes my way, I am happy to be alive and trust that God will be with me every step of every hurdle. “ Scinto, also a diabetic, now needs a pancreas transplant and has formed a charitable organization. All funds raised will go towards that operation and related expenses. Scinto will visit Lovegrove Gallery on Sanibel on Feb. 20 to sign her book. Lovegrove will hold  Painting Out Loud for a Heart Like Mine at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, but reservations are required. Feb. 4 is also National Wear Red Day when Americans are urged to wear red to show support for women’s heart disease awareness.   During the Creative Coast weekend, Lovegrove will paint hearts at Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens in Matlacha on Feb. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Feb. 12, she will hold a Painting Out Loud at 2 p.m.   Lovegrove will paint 500 or more hearts over the course of three weekends during the month of February and will give them away to bring attention to Cindy Scinto’s book and needs. Lovegrove Art Gallery Opens Downtown Fort Myers, Florida  Island Girl Goes Downtown Leoma Lovegrove is best known for her galleries on Sanibel and Matlacha. Now, she has caught the downtown vibe in the revitalized River District of Fort Myers. She recently opened Lovegrove Art Gallery on First and Broadway at 2200 First Street Fort Myers, Florida. To mark the opening, Lovegrove has produced a series of prints and notecards that celebrate the downtown lifestyle. During her first evening at her new gallery, she painted a 12 ft x 8 ft. floor mat live during January’s Art Walk. The gallery is open daily 10am  – 5pm and closed on Sunday. Matlacha. January 21, 2010. Come and meet some of the lovable and playful cats who currently live at Helping Paws Sanctuary on Sunday, January 30 from 1:00 until 4:00 PM at Lovegrove Gallery and Gardens, 4637 Pine Island Road, Matlacha, Florida.

Helping Paws is home to over 100 cats which are looking for homes. Some were found huddling along the side of a road, or had to be given up when their humans could no longer keep them.  Some were injured and some abused, but each will give years of happiness to the family who takes them home.   
 
In addition to adoption, you can find out how you can volunteer and support Helping Paws. While financial help is always gratefully accepted, the shelter also needs food, bedding, toys and people who can give up an hour now and then to visit and play with the cats until they are adopted.   
 
Gallery owner, Leoma Lovegrove’s cat and dog prints will be available for sale and a portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to Helping Paws. Leoma’s cat and dog prints hang on the walls of pet lovers and veterinarians throughout the country

Light Up the Matlacha Night. Local Artist establishes fund to light up the little historic village of Matlacha.        Matlacha January 10, 2011 — Leoma Lovegrove spends a considerable amount of time in the spot light, creating artwork in her popular Painting Out Loud performances. Now she wants to share some of her light with the rest of Matlacha. Lovegrove has recycled boards from historic Matlacha ranging in length from 18 inches to nearly five feet. Each board is emblazoned with the name Matlacha. She will sell them during this Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s “Creative Coast Weekend” with a portion of sales going into a fund to add to the street lighting in Matlacha. The fund is corrently being set up with a local island bank. Lovegrove hopes that other businesses and residents will contribute, too. She is working with Lee County officials to firm up details. “I want our little artistic fishing village to be more pedestrian friendly during the evening. Lights would solve the problem but they are expensive. I want to start the “Light Up Matlacha Fund” with some seed money from the boards I have painted.” About Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens: Leoma Lovegrove and her husband Michael J. Sanibel, Florida.  December 8, 2010 — Are you blue because you’ve never been invited to the White House? A visit to Lovegrove Gallery of Sanibel on SUNDAY, Dec.  19 is the next best thing to a trip to Washington, DC, for the holidays. Lovegrove was chosen two years ago to create an ornament for President and Mrs. Bush’s Christmas tree. As a result, she and her husband were privileged to attend a reception in the Blue Room of the White House. Now she will recreate the experience at a special event from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. to share it with others.

Lovegrove has created her own version of the Blue Room and will display some of her memorabilia given to her for the first time. She even plans to duplicate the menu she enjoyed at the White House. She will also present two Painting Out Loud performances, one at 6:30 and the other at 8:00. The Hot Flashz will make a special appearance and dance to two songs. Guests are encouraged to wear blue clothing. Lovegrove Gallery of Sanibel is located at 1101 Periwinkle Way (across from the Dairy Queen). Free.
